Diesel-to-natural-gas conversion engineering

Dedicated CNG/LNG systems and diesel dual-fuel solutions engineered around the engine, application and duty cycle.

Dedicated natural-gas powertrains

For suitable diesel engine families, dedicated natural-gas conversion can involve combustion hardware, fuel delivery, ignition, engine controls, sensors, calibration and emissions validation. The scope is engine- and market-specific.

Diesel dual-fuel (DDF)

DDF systems retain diesel ignition while substituting a portion of diesel energy with natural gas. Actual substitution varies with load, engine configuration, gas quality and control strategy. No universal savings or emissions outcome should be assumed.

Repower rather than replace

NGV also evaluates replacement natural-gas engines where an engine swap offers a more practical route than conversion of an existing engine. Feasibility depends on integration, compliance and fleet economics.

Choose the right conversion architecture

Dedicated CNG / LNG

A dedicated natural-gas conversion requires engineering of combustion and ignition, gas injection, engine control, sensors, thermal management, aftertreatment compatibility and calibration. It is not simply the installation of a fuel kit.

Diesel dual-fuel (DDF)

DDF retains diesel ignition while substituting a portion of the diesel energy with natural gas. The achievable substitution rate depends on engine load, speed, gas quality, safety constraints and emissions requirements.

Fleet applications

Experience includes school-bus repowering, public-transport buses, regional freight trucks and other heavy-duty engines. Programs are evaluated for usable vehicle life, route profile, refueling infrastructure, certification and total cost of ownership.
